Viral jobannonce som social media ekspert

Den amerikanske upcoming videotjeneste Vidli kører for tiden en jobkampagne, for at finde en god kandidat til en stilling som social media ekspert. Til jobopslaget er lavet en video, hvor en ung fyr fra Vidli forklarer, at der er masser af social media eksperter, men at Vidli vil forsøge sig med en nye metode til at finde deres nye social media ekspert.

For at ansøge skal du nemlig ikke skrive en ansøgning på traditionel vis, men vise dine evner som ekspert inden for de sociale medier og virale effekter. Grundlæggende handler det om, i løbet af december 2009, at få flest muligt til at tilmelde sig til en beta adgang til den nye videotjeneste. Hver kandidat for en unik URL, som de skal sørge for flest muligt tilmelder sig ved at gøre brug af Twitter, Facebook og andre medier. Kandidaterne konkurrerer altså om at sprede kendskabet til Vidli – en videotjeneste som ikke engang er online endnu.

I princippet mener jeg, at det er underordnet, om der findes et job hos Vidli eller om de blot bruger hypet omkring sociale medier og det trængte jobmarked til at sprede kendskabet til deres nye tjeneste. Uanset hvad, så er kampagnet et godt eksempel på, hvordan medierne kan bruges til at sprede budskaber viralt uden de store omkostninger – endda pakket ind i en jobannonce.

Her kommer jeg selvfølgelig til at tænke på Island Reef Job – The best job in the world, som fik en kæmpe mængde ansøgninger til hvad der var beskrevet som bestyrer af en tropisk ø – tilmed med en fin løn.

Historien melder intet om, hvad den nye videotjeneste egentlig kan. Hvem sagde hype?

A good candidate for this position loves Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook. You need to know a thing or two about online video. Strong skills with SEO and SEM are a huge plus. And if you’re really on your game…you are familiar with Omniture, WordPress, CoTweet, Posterous and other forms of Inbound Marketing.

What!?! Did you say Twitter and Facebook? Yes, we did. This is a job that will pay you to use Twitter and Facebook. Triple Boyah! But….as Batman says – it’s what you do that matters. So we’re doing things a little different that usual…

Job Competition – 5 Steps to Prove You’re the Expert:
(1) Submit your Name and Email below (a resume if you really want to)
(2) We’ll send you a customized URL with tracking code
(3) Use this URL to tell people about Vidli using “social media.” You’re the expert…tear it up…
(4) The URL tracks how many signups (aka conversions) you make on Vidli.com
(5) The top 5 people with the most signups score the interview.

Time Period: The competition officially ends on January 1st 2010.

This seems a little cheesy…Are ya’ll serious? Yes.

We don’t like the standard “job runaround.” We believe in one thing. RESULTS. So we’re doing this competition. It’s a win-win. Here’s why… This helps you prove you really are a social media expert. You don’t have to worry about us pouring over your resume. If you have experience in social media or amassed a mountain of online social capital it is very easy to demonstrate that here. This competition is your chance to stand out from the pack.

Look…this is a fast track to landing a great job. We are only going to interview the top five winners. We want to pay you to use Twitter and Facebook. We want to pay you to post pictures of Booby Babes and tell people about the best licensable videos online. If you’re a social media expert you realize sometimes you need to pay-it-forward to get things rolling.

And Yes. We’re also doing this to help ourselves. This helps us promote Vidli before we launch. We’re not idiots. We are a start up busting with potential and there is a lot that needs done. This helps us quickly determine who is delivering results, able to create online conversions (ie registrations on Vidli.com) and is a good fit with our team.

Det er jo en genial kampagne! Den vil selvfølgelig ikke få samme opmærksomhed som “Island Reef Job” men er også mere simpel. Spændende at se hvor meget det i sidste ende giver, og om det er mere et stunt end en reel søgning efter en ny medarbejder.
